Noosa hosted the first ever under 8 SSG carnival. The day was a success and all the players were obviously enjoying themselves. Thanks to the small number of volunteers on the day. The start of school holidays meant that a number of regular helper were away.
Noosa Handyman Service - Under 9 Roar
Today the Roar played Sunshine Coast Grammer. The Roar played very well and finished up 11-0 winners. Jayden Sirrett scored his very first goal and the whole team was very excited for him. Jed Swainson had a chance to score his first goal however a lay off pass was the best option and he chose to pass the ball for a team mate to tap in a goal. Great play Jed, your first goal is coming.

Noosa Handyman Service - Under 9 Roar
Today the Noosa Roar played the Maroochydore Roar in a great game. The Noosa Roar played a great passing game and really made the Maroochydore players work hard to get the ball. The play of the day was a beautiful run by Glen down the side line, Glen then did a stop turn as practised at training and layed the ball straight back to Cameron who then crossed to the centre where Nicholas ran onto the ball and slotted a fine goal. The team is working well and each the players have an aspect of the game to focus on. During this week it was successful passes, IE: a pass from a Noosa player to a Noosa player, the team achieved 73 successful passes. Well Done! Boys.
The game finished Noosa 3 - Maroochydore 1. Thanks to Nick the Maroochydore coach for his comments to the Noosa players after the game. Nick commented that in the 4 years he has been a coach on the coast he has never come across a team as fair and honest as the Noosa Under 9 Roar.

Nearly all fixtures have been cancelled or postponed during the past fortnight. With normal fixtures back on today. I am sure there are plenty of keen young footballers ready to play.
Noosa Handyman Service - Under 9 Roar
The team played NYU today. The final score was 3-3 all. Reports from parents suggest the players missed their normal routine. However, they did play well and to the credit of the NYU players they had a great day.
Alisdair Scott's Weekly Round Up
It was a week of consolidation for the Tewantin-Noosa RSL football club and
a more than satisfactory conclusion to a hectic period for the club. On
Saturday night, the 1st Division side travelled to Beerwah and came away with
all three points thanks to goals from Matt Thompson and Scott Sidebottom and
could even afford the luxury of missing a penalty (John Terry eat your heart
out!). It was another solid performance from the team who earlier in the
week, more than held their own against high-flying Coolum and could count
themselves unlucky not to do better than a goal-less draw. The second-half
introduction of Matt Holland up front looked like it would pay dividend for
coach Terry Wilcomes, but despite creating several good chances ,Noosa could not
find a way to score. In the Reserve Grade game, Noosa looked
comfortable, 2-0 up at half-time but allowed Coolum back into the game and
contrived to lose 3-2.
This weekend the 1st and 2nd Division sides have a bye and will be pleased
to take a break and focus in training on how they can progress in the next few
games. Next Tuesday night, the teams travel up to Gympie and will be
hoping the weekend off will allow them to dig deep and beat the Miners.
Last Friday, the Elders Over 35 teams both won 2-1 away from home, the
result for the Over 35's 2nd division side being all the more pleasing as it was
another reversal on the first round result, this time against
Caloundra. The Over 35's 1st Division team top their table and showed
great determination and no little footballing ability to overcome Buderim Black;
Chris Penny heading home the winner late on.
Noosa Handyman Service - Under 9 Roar
This week the team took on Maroochydore in a very good game. Both teams showed that they are capable of a good passing game. However, the Roar's far superior technical skill and game play allowed them to dominate the game. Glenn Jarrett and Ryan Kenane both had great games and put their hands up to go in goals, showing tremendous team spirit. All players had great games and once again the fast improving Jed Swainson received the man of the match award. Jed is really enjoying his first season of football and is improving every week. Noosa finished up winners 7-1.

Bebrock Under 15 Girls Wildcats
The Noosa Wildcats were keen to bounce back from their 3-1 loss to Buderim Orange last week and get back in the winner’s circle against CSPU.
With the 9.00am home start, the girls woke on-field slowly in the first half and built some good foundations in the first 20 minutes. One of the most improved players on the team, Ruby Bowyer finished off a nice move up front and took the Wildcats to a 1-0 half time lead.
The fruit and drink break did the girls good with a strong start to the second half. Several strong rushes by Kristy Robbins, Kimberly Norman, Kelsey Lloyd and Ruby Bowyer, saw the talented boot of Kelsey Lloyd score two good team goals in her usual classy fashion before CSPU came back with a goal to take the game to 3-1.
After some fine chances including a beauty from newcomer Stephanie Steel-Schaffer, striker Ruby Bowyer slotted another goal to put the game beyond doubt at 4-1, much to the delight of Noosa supporters in the stands. The score could have blown out further if not for a few posts and play breakdowns.
Strong defense and robust mid-field play was also the key to the win with great work from Emma Potts (also a fine corner kicker), Sarah Fletcher, Sarah Baldwin and the Agostino sisters, Bronte and Fabienne. Player of the match had to go to Kristy Robbins - who was all over nearly all of Noosa’s attacking plays.
The heart of this team is there for all to see and they’re looking forward to their return to Buderim this Saturday (May 31) to take on Buderim Black and get amongst the group leaders. The game starts at 12.50pm and the Wildcats will be ready to roar!

The Works Hair and Body Lounge - Youth
On Friday night the Youth team convincingly defeated Bribie Island 10 nil. Firstly I must commend Bribie on never giving up and competing with great spirit for the whole game. We dominated possession for most of the first half and in fact the whole game but did take a long time to get our first goal. Matt Upton scored our first with a great piece of finishing to bend the ball around the keeper. From then on it was just a matter of us controlling the ball and the goals started to flow. At half Time we lead 3 nil. In the second half as we played more of the ball to our players feet, Bribie struggled to contain our domination of possession. Jonas from Germany scored his first Goal for us as did Tom Ashton. The most pleasing aspect of the game was that we seemed to actually enjoy our football tonight as a team and played with a muck improved and positive spirit. The completed table would see us clearly in third spot after tonight’s win.
Each week a parent selects a man of the match. This week Tom Ashton receives our man of the match award, kindly donated by Mark at “The WORKS hair and body Lounge”.
Noosa Handyman Service - Under 9 Roar
The Roar played in the Under 9 carnival and had a great day. The boys started off a little slow and lost to NYU 1-2 in the first game. The Noosa goal was scored by Ricky Brown. In the second game they played Buderim Cryuffs. The Cryuffs like the Roar are a very strong team. The game was locked at 1-1 with less than 5 seconds to go when Buderim got to the loose ball first in front of our goal and banged in the winner. Cooper Hudson scored Noosa's goal and celebrated in style. In game 3 against the Coolum Sharks the boys returned to their usual style of play which involves a lot of passing and switching play as well as utilising their range of individual skills to beat opponents. Nicholas Cookman used some individual skill to beat the Coolum defence and knocked in his first ever left foot goal. He went on to score a hat trick in the teams 5-0 defeat of Coolum. The other goal scorers were Cameron Boldy and Cooper Hudson. Jayden Sirett went close hitting the post with a great shot. In the final game the boys played Kawana Yellow and won the game with a Ricky Brown Goal. A special thankyou to Hayden Hudson a Noosa under 7 player that stepped up for the day to help out his big brothers team which was short a couple of players. Well Done team.

Noosa Under 14
A spectacular junior football game which entertained the supporters and keept them on edge through out the whole match, with Noosa coming out ontop 5-4 winners.
Great all round team performance with the 12 players giving it everything ,Noosa came out playing attacking football right from the start with in 15 mins they were up 3 nil.
Then Merv the goalkeeper got injured and the side had to make a couple of changes which coolumn took full advantage of drawing the game at 3 all by half time.
In the second half Noosa regained there composure and came out strong scoreing there next two goals but credit to the coolumn side which never gave up pulled one back with 10 mins to go, but Noosa held there nerve and came out victorious.
Goals scored by Jarvis Alland with a superb hat trick, Jack Cassar and Sam Oyston netting the other two a great effort by the whole team well done boys!!Thats all for now folks!! Sean.

Noosa Handyman Service - Under 9 Roar
The Roar played at Buderim and showed an amazing amount of team pride for such young players. The Roar were losing 0-2 at half time, a position this team hasn't experienced in a long time. At half time a quiet discussion about the skills they have learnt and the style of play we usual display kicked started their game. The Roar came out after the break and knocked in 4 goals to win the game 4-2. Ricky Brown scored 3 and Nicholas Cookman 1. Man of the Match honors went to Theo Calvert. Theo played a magnificent game and is showing that he will make a great defender.
Thank you to all the Under 9 Roar families for attending the sponsors night and saying thanks to our sponsor. Your team spirit and support of the club is fantastic.
Heritage Building Society - Under 10 Cheetahs
Heritage Building Society Under 10 Cheetah's defeated Noosa Lions 7/1. What can I say, this group of boys are really coming into their own. They displayed great skills in passing and worked together superbly as a team.
The Under 15 (2) girls team (the Noosa Wildcats as their fans know them) are really starting to turn some heads.
Blessed with a great team spirit and a never-say-die approach to their game since the first match of the season, the girls took on Woombye at home on Saturday, May 10. The ladder had alerted us to the fact that Woombye played a tight game with their for and against goals nearly the same, so the girls were ready for an arm wrestle… and they got one.
A scoreless first half saw coach Greg Potts press upon the girls the need for better communication in attack, and the team spent much of the second half almost entirely in Woombye’s end.
Strong, attacking corner kicks from the boot of Emma Potts and offensive opportunities created by the always tenacious Gemma Pateman and Kelsey Lloyd, eventually paved the way for player of the game, Kimberly Norman to slot home the winner with 10 seconds left on the clock giving Noosa the win 1-0!
It was a thrilling finish to a great contest and this team knows it’s on the move! The Wildcats are now a team with subs and that’s going to make them dangerous, as that’s the only thing we’ve been lacking all season. With up to 15 girls now registered to play, the top placed teams will be looking over their shoulders.
The fifth Noosa Wildcats play the third placed Buderim Orange away this Saturday, but there’s only one point separating them, so the ever-popular coach Greg will have the girls ready to play a big game this Saturday. The action starts at 2.00pm.
Noosa Tree Man - Under 10 Lions
The Works Hair and Body Lounge - Youth
The Noosa Lions Youth team defeated Buderim Black 4 – 3 in a game played in two completely different halves. Noosa dominated the first half, mainly because we controlled possession and played good football to the feet of our team mates. Possession turned into points after a build up in mid field, Dom Everett knocked the ball into the top left corner. So well placed the goalie could only stand and watch it bullet past him. Then “Swiss”, Chris Burke took a penalty from well outside the 18 yard box and was able to skim the underside of the cross bar for the ball to again hit the back of the net. Then Cassie Casswell beat his defence to knock in Noosa’s third goal of the half. Anton Tereykovsky had made several crucial saves as Goalie to keep us 3 – 0 up at half time. Buderim came out fired up in the second half and combined with our less aggressive defence across the park, Buderim quickly scored two goals. Cassie Casswell scored his second with a great turn and strike under very heavy defence from the top of the 18 yard box. Buderim dominated the second halw and scored their third goal late to make the final score 4 – 3. “The Works Hair and Body Lounge” man of the match was Shuan Tobin. Shaun’s aggressive defence and huge work load in attack in mid field kept us in the game. Next week we again travel to Buderim to play Buderim Orange.
Noosa Handyman Service - Under 9 Roar v Glen Duncan Building - Noosa Panthers
This game highlighted the depth of talent in this particular age group. Both teams had plenty of chances to score but it was the exceptional team play and passages of individual brilliance that kept the crowd entertained. There were two highlights that really are worth mentioning here.
Firstly from the Roar, a Nicholas Cookman cross from the sideline went over all of the defenders and was met by a wonderful header by Cameron Boldy which came off with heaps of power and rocketed into the net. It is rare to see an under 9 player compose themself and score off the head and this is the second such goal in 2 weeks from the above combination.
The second highlight was from the Panthers with Oliver Blackmore showing tremendous individual skills when he put together a few of the moves he has learnt at Coerver training and easily stepped past one of the clubs best under 9 defenders. Oliver's individual control and technique are really outstanding, keep up the good work Oliver.
The final score was Roar 7- Panthers 2

Heritage Building Society - Under 10 Cheetahs
The Heritage Building Society Under 10 Cheetah's defeated Coolum Stingers 7/3. A fantastic game with the boys utilising the skills practised in weekly training sessions. Goals to Jack Causer 3, Andre Jancevski 3 and Sam Struthers 1. Good goal saving from Tully Still and Wills Palfrey. Player of the match went to Sam Stuthers and Dominoes Pizza voucher to Jack Causer and the Subway voucher went to Patrick Gelling.
The Works Hair and Body Lounge - Youth
This week we played at home in a very physical game against Kawana. The first 25 minutes of the game, Kawana completed dominated field possision and some great saves by Karl Goessling kept us in the game. However Kawana did score two goals late in the first half, both were fairly lucky goals. One
from our mistake and a second from a mis hit that took a deflection. Once the Noosa boys started to control the ball, the game was much more of a contest. After some great build up work by Chris Burke, Dom Everitt and Shaun Tobin in mid field, Dan Upton was able to memerise the defense and knock home a great goal to get the score back to 2 - 1. For most of the second half both teams created chances and we went close on three or four attacking raids but could not finish off some good work. Late in the game Kawana scored again to make the final score 3 - 1. Tom Lunn was awarded "The WORKS Hair and Body Lounge " man of the match award for his work as sweeper and stopping many of the Kawana attacks on goal. Next week we play away from home against Buderim at 6.30pm.
Noosa Handyman Service - Under 9 Roar
This week the boys played exceptional football. The game started with the team putting together 20 consecutive passes and a goal without the other team touching the ball. This style of passing football continued for the entire first half and a number of goals were scored. The second half started well but then slipped into a scramble with too many players pushing forward. After some intervention and a few "rules" put in place the game returned to the passing style shown early on. The game finished with goals to Nicholas Cookman, Ricky Brown, Scott Taylor, Cameron Boldy and Cooper Hudson. Well Played boys!
Here is a 1 minute video from the game
Noosa Under 14's
Hello to everybody in the club, well here goes this is my first preview of the season and will endeavour to continue on throughout the year to let you all know how our U14's boys are going.
We have a good balanced and talented squad this year with 3 or 4 boys not played football before fitting in with the other more experienced boys who are helping them to settle in the team environment.
Hence our slow start to the season,1 all draw and 3 very close losses with all 2-1 score lines, but last week we recorded our first win with the score 2-1 in our favour this time.
Home game against a determined 9 man Bribie side who played very well and made it difficult for our boys to crack there defence, and were even up 1-nil at half time. But the noosa boys came out in the second half and started to pass the ball around better, using there 2 man advantage and showing some patience in there build up with Jarvis scoring 2 great goals both from shooting right in the top corners from the edge of the 18 yard box.
Well done to the whole team they are starting to gel as a team, hopefully we can start this winning momentum and the boys believe in themselves more and relax, to start enjoying there football.
A big thanks to the boys parents for there support and also to Westpac who are our new sponsors so hopefully the boys will be running out in there new strip in a couple of weeks.Thats all for now folks!!! Sean.

The Works Hair and Body Lounge - Youth
The Youth squad bounced back to their normal style of play in their 4 – 2 win against Beegees Friday night. Well done on playing some fantastic control football. Dan Upton got us going with his usual patient, measured placement of the ball into Goal. After beating several players he knocked the first goal in after we had dominated possession. Beegees had several good scoring opportunities, but were well shut down by Tom Ashton, Tom Lunn and Sam Tettmar in defence. Sam was awarded “The WORKS Hair and Body Lounge” man of the match award after again completly shutting the Beegees main striker out of the game. Chris, AKA known as Swiss and Shaun Tobin dominated mid field and both had great games. Dom continued to deliver great ball to his forwards. Matt Upton out sprinted the defence to knock in his first of two goals of the half to take us to a 3 nil lead at half time.
The second half saw us drop our intensity and Beegees were quickly back in the game with two goals. Our keeper Karl, cleaned up several attacking raids, and had his usual strong game in goal. Matt scored his hat trick of goals, after a free kick by Dan was hotly contested in Goal, and Mat was quick to knock the ball in with his back, taking us to the final score of 4 – 2. Thanks to James Reibelt for again stepping up from U16’s to help us out. Well done boys next week we play Kawana at home at 6:30pm.
Noosa Handyman Service - Under 9 Roar
This week the TEAM ROAR were put through a very tough training session. The focus of which was defending and supporting the players nearby. The great effort shown at training has flowed on to the pitch and the boys were defensively dominant throughout the game. In attack the team was back to its usual flair and the ball was played wide from defence to the wing players and then crossed in beautifully. The fisrt goal came when Nicholas Cookman hammered over a long corner to Cameron Boldy at the far post for a tap in goal. Other goal scorers were Glenn Jarret, Ricky Brown and Nicholas Cookman. The game finished 6-1 to the ROAR.

For April 18/19th
A torrential downpour on Saturday afternoon forced the postponement of the Tewantin-Noosa RSL football club's 1st Division game against Coolum. Unfortunately for the Reserve Grade, it had been raining goals during their match and the weather only added to their misery of a 6-0 home defeat. This weekend, the two senior sides are away at Gympie.
Earlier in the day, despite a focus in training on their defence, the Under 9 Roar sponsored by Noosa Handyman Services, took a vice like grip on their game and hammered home six.
The Subway Under 6 Cubs, Margays, Predators, Tomcats and Ligars all took on Nambour Yandina United and continued to impress parents and coaches alike with their progress under the Small Sided games program. The camaraderie between all these young players and the enthusiasm of parents augurs well for a fun and exciting season for the club's most junior teams.
A hat-trick for Matt Upton helped the Youth team to a 4-2 win over Beegees on Friday night but the Works Hair and Body Lounge man of the match award went to Sam Tettmar for his defensive contribution. The team play with some style when they are in the mood, come and see them this Friday, when they play at home to Kawana, kick off at 6.30pm.
The club's Elders Over 35's were both at home last Friday, the 1st Division side dominated their game against Buderim Black but failed to take all their chances and so made it a hard fought 1-0 win, Ross Maygar was the goalscorer. The 2nd Division side recovered from the shock of conceding within 20 seconds of the kick off to equalise through Wolfie Schneider and held their own for much of the game against Bribie. A second goal for the visitors gave them the edge and despite late pressure and some good chances, Noosa could not find the goal their effort deserved.
For 12th April
The Tewantin-Noosa RSL football club are at home to Coolum this weekend, the Reserve Grade kick off at 5pm and 1st Division at 7pm. Both sides will be looking to bounce back after going down to Buderim last weekend. The 1st Division side lost 4-0 but whilst the result was certainly fair, the scoreline is not a true reflection of Noosa's effort. Early chances were spurned and penalty claims denied, whilst at the other end free kicks were conceded too easily and dispatched effectively. Coach, Terry Wilcomes felt there were a number of positives to be taken from the game and hopes to strengthen his 1st Division team with a couple of new players shortly.
Many of the junior teams recorded wins and it is great to hear how well the young players have picked up the Small Sided games program.
The Works Body and Hair Lounge Youth team suffered from the loss of a number of players due to school holidays and found Woombye to be too strong for them across the park. The Over 35 teams, fittingly sponsored by Elders, have both began to settle their squads and played some impressive football in recent weeks. The 1st Division side were disappointed to concede two late goals to Coolum last week especially after recording an excellent 5-1 win over Caloundra the previous week. The 2nd Division side were delighted to pick up their first points with a 2-0 win over Nambour, the "elder statesmen" of the club, Wolfie Schneider and Rod Heuser, combining to produce a classic thunderbolt finish from "Rocket" . This Friday night both the Over35 teams are at home, 1st Division kicking off at 6.30pm.

The Works Hair and Body Lounge - Youth
Tonight was the first night we did not turn up mentally or physically to play. Woombye deserved their win. Having five of our normal players away certainly did not help team cohesion. Never the less thank you to those players who filled in tonight. Hughie Mills received the “WORKS hair and body lounge” player of the match award. Hughie gave his all tonight and at times matched it with much bigger and older opponents. Well done Hughie on a fine effort.
Noosa Handyman Service Under 9 Roar
The Under 9 Roar played at Buderim and after 2 years came up against a team as equally prepared to play. Ricky Brown was simply amazing in goal and kept the Roar in the game. Goals were scored by Nicholas Cookman, Cooper Hudson and Glenn Jarrett. Jed Swainson played a great game and is improving each week. Scott Taylor and Ryan Kenane were very strong in defence and were able to keep Buderim at bay for most of the game. Ryan and Scott fed the midfield with plenty of great passes. The Roar played a very narrow game and next week will focus on spreading the ball wide in attack. The game finished 3-3. Michael

The Works Hair and Body Lounge - Youth

Friday we played at home against Nambour Yandina United. We expected a tight game and the first twenty minutes was exactly that with both sides pressuring each other’s 18 yard box. However the Noosa boys were creating cleaner and more chances as the game went on. Finally after a well placed dipping corner by Kien, Dom headed home the first goal. Chris AKA Swiss, Dom, James, Kien and Shuan continued to deliver quality balls to Matt and Dan up front. Dan show typical calm to slot home two goals before half time. Coach Phil Oyston was particularly impressed with Shuan’s work and control in mid field. In the second half Tom Ashton, Tom Lunn and Sam Tettmar continued to shut down any attack by the opposition. Sam Tettmar completely shutting the main NYU striker out of the game. We started to completely dominate in the second half and Dan Upton scored his hat trick with a superbly placed curling ball around the keeper and off the post. Karl and Anton shared keeper duties, and tidied up any slight chance NYU created. Karl went close to scoring when Phil threw him into attack as striker. With twenty five minutes to go Karl and Anton swapped with Anton now up front as striker. Anton scored a blistering goal from outside the 18 yard box and I am sure will be in Phil’s ear to go up front more often. Congratulations Anton on a great Goal I know the crowd and your team mates really enjoyed watching that one. Dom put in a late goal that was unluckily disallowed because of an infringement in the box. The final score Noosa 5 NYU 1. Don’t forget boys we are half way to achieving our goal. That is, four straight wins so Phil will wash the training bibs.
It would be great to see more people come and support the boys next Friday the 11 April, we are at home again, 6.30pm kick off against Woombye and then the Over 35 first division play after us.
Noosa Handyman Service - Under 9 ROAR

The boys played Coolum Bluebottles in a fun and exciting game. The field was very small and the wingers did well to stay wide and not cramp up the field. Goals were scored by Ryan Kenane (1), Ricky Brown (3), Cameron Boldy (1), Nicholas Cookman (4), Zac Penfound (1) and Cooper Hudson (1).
Over the past month our training sessions have focussed entirely on developing individual skills and each players ability to turn on the ball to avoid an oponent. During the game every player used at least one of the turns or step overs learnt at training. One example would be when Nicholas put together an outstanding combination of stepovers and turns to avoid 3 defenders and then lay off a smooth pass. Well done boys!
The boys are to be congratulated for displaying great sportmanship by finishing the game with 2 players less on the field to even up the competition. The game finished 11-3 and Man of the Match honours went to Zac.
Heritage Building Society - Under 10 Cheetah's

Noosa 1st Division went down 2-1 away to Kawana on Saturday night. It was a wet and windy night making playing conditions hard for both teams.
It proved to be a game of two halves with Noosa opening the scoring early through Maurice Torres. The goal was setup by some great work from Matt Thompson who was able to whip in a cross from the right hand side which the keeper spilt in the path of Maurice for an easy tap in.
Noosa dominated most of the first half with some great link up play between the midfield and strikers. The central midfield of Nicol Watson, Dave Ferris and Scott Rogerson were winning plenty of ball in the middle of the park against a strong Kawana outfit. Noosa came close for a second goal in the first half with the wind at their backs but could not convert.
Kawana came out in the second half and controlled possession. Noosa created a couple of early second half chances but were once again unable to convert and were made to pay with a Kawana goal coming from some simple mistakes in Noosa's defensive third. The mistakes led to a Kawana midfielder being one on one with Noosa's keeper Dutchy who did great to get a hand on it but the ball had deflected into the back of the net.
Dutchy continued to make some important saves to keep Noosa in the game but the side was unable to really threaten Kawana's goal. Kawana's second came from an accidental handball in the penalty box which resulted in Kawana's Luke Ricketts slotting home the penalty. The Tewantin-Noosa RSL football side pressed forward late in the game searching for an equaliser but could not find the final finish to draw level.
The Melco Mitre 10 Man of the Match was Scott (Sidebottom) Rogerson, who worked tirelessly in the middle of the park.
Noosa Second Division had a tuff time matching Kawana in the midfield. The strength of the Kawana attack and the wind made scoring goals very difficult for Noosa. The highlight of the fisrt half was a brilliant free kick taken by Phil Dickenson. The ball sailed in to the top right hand corner leaving the Kawana keeper completely fooled. The second half was more evenly matched and again Phil Dickenson was provided with a free kick just outside the penalty box when Michael Cookman was fouled. Phils free kick never left the ground, curling around the wall into the bottom left corner. The Sportspower Noosa Man of the Match went to Cookie by a small margin. (I thought Harro deserved it) Next week we tackle Buderim and I think I will be sitting out after being hammered by the Kawana defence.

6-6 Draw against Buderim.
What a goal fest. After giving Buderim two of our players and deciding to play 8 a side Buderim started by putting three in the back of the net whilst we struggled to find it. We turned the game around after second half and goals started to come. Zach Allen showed his stuff in the middle of the park and produced a sweet goal from outside the box and sam Potts played well up front also producing a cracker. Will Cels played his best match yet with moves on other players and good passes. Well Done girls and boys.

5-1 win over Caloundra
With 9 girls against a full strenght CSPU team the girls blew us all away.
Theere were improvements all over the park. Our first touches were better, we started passing and above all we were first to the ball.
Congratulations to Kelsey getting a hattrick of goals and dominating the park , great effort. Two goals to Emma a reward for looking for anything and using it.
Big improvements from Bronte and Gemma with all the girls doing us proud. Well done girls.
Our team played a wonderful game again, winning 4-0 against NYUC U8 Eagles. Goals scored by Alexander Clancy and Jyah Lamb.
Last week we also won 5-0. Goals scored by Alexander Clancy and Logan Barber.

The first day of the 2008 season was a winner for the Noosa Lions Football Club. The day started with dozens of phone calls all asking if the games were going ahead. Of course it will take a lot more than a water logged pitch to stop the Lions from playing at home.
The morning kicked off with the very fisrt SMALL SIDED GAMES ever played at Noosa and the faces on the under 6s at the end of their game told the story. The kids absolutley loved it. As predicted the parent expectations of a "GAME" are much different than the kids and the children showed just how exciting small sided games will be. All the players had plenty of touches on the ball and heaps of goals were scored. Thanks to NYU for helping make the introduction of SSGs a succes. A special thanks to the "coaches" your efforts in ensuring a fun and exciting game are appreciated by all of the children and their families.
It was terrific to see the spirit of Small Sided Games being adhered to, with players freely swapping teams to help out the couple of teams short of players. This freedom and the desire to have fun and PLAY a GAME is one of the strengths of the Small Sided Games concept.
Thank you to Jason and his SUBWAY team for being such great supporters of the Noosa Lions Football Club. To show Jason our gratitude please use your special Noosa Lions discount card in any of Jason's three stores, Noosa Civic, Tewantin and Cooroy.
The day then moved to the Rooball teams and Noosa were dominant at home with both the Under 9 Roar and Panthers having big wins to start the season. This age group has been very strong for a number of years and they are looking forward to a big season as they face up against new teams in the expanded north coast comp.
Teams that played away please send through your results any photos and a match report.
Coaches and managers please email noosalionsfc@bigpond.com to have your teams news listed here.
Thanks to all of the committe members, coaches and managers and volunteers around the club for making week 1 of the 2008 such a huge success. Thanks Sandra and Ian for staying back late and working the bar for the boys.
The over 35's and Youth teams play this Tuesday to catch up on Friday nights washout. Good luck to all 3 teams.
The Noosa youth Football team got their season off to a great start winning their first game one nil against Caboolture. The Game was played Tuesday night after Friday night’s game was a wash out.
Raphael from Brazil and Jonas from Germany had solid games for their first game in Australia, well done and welcome to the Noosa Lions boys. Matt Upton scored a superb goal in the first half after Noosa dominated possession and created numerous opportunities. I think for the teams first hit out you should be very pleased as a team with the way you dominated the game against Caboolture. Wearing their new “The WORKS hair and body lounge” strip the boys impressed, and looked like a professional outfit. Well done to all the boys on a great team effort. Jon Lunn
This was a good start to the season, with NYU having picked up so many new players from Caloundra. We allowed NYU to make all the early running but we defended well and kept our shape all over the park. The back three of Michael Williams, John Sanderson and Luke May did a fabulous job keeping the NYU forwards quiet and our midfield was doing an equally good job on NYU. Dave Ferris and Matt Thompson worked hard upfront and can only get better with more games under their belts. Just before half time we didn’t pick up the loose ball which allowed an NYU player to swoop on the ball and move into the attacking third where he pushed the ball past Matt Holland in goals. Full credit to Noosa in the second half for the way in which they took control of the ball and went about getting the goal back. When Matt Thompson was brought down in the penalty area Scott Rogerson (AKA Sidebottom) slotted the penalty to even up the game. From that point on we dominated NYU and were unfortunate not to go ahead a few minutes later when Thompson found himself in the penalty area with only a defender to beat. Thompson was forced away from goals and his shot was wide of the mark. Both teams had chances with Matt Holland saving Noosa, when NYU had a chance with 10 min to go. All in all a good start to the 2008 season and with improvement still to come. Keep up the good work Boys! Terry
